Counseling Groups
Why should my child be in a group?
1) Groups assist children in forming bonds with peers in a structured environment that enables them to discuss feelings and ideas openly.
2) Groups show children that they are not alone in their concerns and can learn how to cope with problems, fears, and their worries. 3) Using developmentally appropriate structured activities, children are able to support their peers and provide interpersonal feedback. 4) Due to the developmental stages of children, groups focusing on building skills and coping mechanisms are much more effective than in adulthood. 5) Groups allow counselors to reach out to a wider range of children with lower costs relative to individual counseling for families. |
Active Groups
ENGAGE - A social skills group We are excited to share with you ENGAGE, a social skills group for children ages 8-11 in the Fort Collins area. ENGAGE is a group designed to help children improve their self-esteem, creativity, peer relations, and critical thinking skills. We will accomplish this by utilizing group art therapy techniques, group play therapy techniques, and other therapeutic methods to engage the students throughout this group experience. We hope that the students will come away with an improved sense of self and newfound courage to confront life's challenges.
